Bio
The Adam St. James Band plays souped-up
versions of familiar classics by Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Allman Brothers,
Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top, The Beatles, The Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Cheap Trick,
Montrose, the James Gang, Grand Funk, Steppenwolf, Robin Trower, The Doors,
and blues legends such as B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry, and Albert
Collins.
And not to ignore the ladies, the band
even lays down a bunch of funky, danceable grooves by the likes of the
Red Hot Chili Peppers, Wild Cherry, the Black Crowes, Robert Palmer, The
Commodores, and more.
The guitars are blazin’, the band
is pumpin’, and the good times are guaranteed!

Adam St. James – Lead vocals/Lead guitar
Adam is lead vocalist/guitarist and front
person for the band. He has performed live with various groups across
the U.S. including many long, crazy nights on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood;
at numerous blues clubs and festivals around Miami; annually at the Buffalo
Guitar Festival; here and there in Denver; and other locales too numerous
to recount. Adam is also a respected music journalist. He is currently
Editor of Guitar.com, a high-profile position at a very popular music
industry website, and is also author of numerous guitar instructional
books published by Hal Leonard. Adam’s influences range from Led
Zeppelin, Aerosmith and Van Halen - to blues artists old and new - big
band jazz, down home honky tonk - and all the way forward to the guitar-centric
modern rock bands of today.
Adam St. James – Solo Acoustic
Adam performs regularly around the Chicago
area as a solo acoustic act. Covering everything from Eric Clapton and
The Beatles to Duke Ellington and Dwight Yoakam, Adam's set list is quite
diverse, and suitable for nearly any occasion. Recently (Fall 2005) Adam
has been teaming up with steel guitar master Jon Kostal on select gigs,
adding a rare – at least 'round Chicago – and decidedly Nashville-twang
to the atmosphere
Adam St. James and Dennis McMasters
– Acoustic Duo
Adam occasionally teams up with San Francisco-based
harmonica whiz Dennis McMasters (that's him on the track "It Ain't
Right" above) to perform as an acoustic duo. The two draw from their
love and knowledge of early Chicago blues to cover classic artists such
as Little Walter and Sonny Terry, yet mix in enough classic and modern
rock to keep it fresh for everyone. But fun is usually the name of the
game: They've been known to throw down extended funk jams, and regularly
invite members of the audience up to the stage to showcase their sometimes
questionable but always entertaining vocal talents. Their frequent Friday
Happy Hour gigs at Pazzo's on the river in the Chicago Loop are becoming
legendary.
